Slit Seeder - Overseeder At Work
Weeds Gettin' Taller
Than Your Cars?
We bid over 100 dethatching jobs last year and completed/won about 50. Earl did not meet one company all year that uses an Overseeder. The Claussen Overseeder is our favorite piece of equipment.
Our germination rate is approximately 70% higher than the industry standard broadcast spreader method. A high germination rate means our method will crowd out moss & weeds much faster, Have a lot of bare spots or areas that are tough to get growing/going? Call us! Your lawn will look sweet this summer!
Slit grass seeding is a method of placing seed precisely into the soil. This process has a much higher rate of germination than standard overseeding. Also called Verti-slicing, slice seeding can be used to repair a lawn or reinstall a lawn completely. The Renovator acts as three machines in one, a powered lawn dethatcher, a lawn slicer, and then a slit grass seeder, all within the same pass over the lawn.
The grass seed is precisely metered, dropped in front of 40, high-carbon steel blades and swept by two full-width, rear finishing brushes to ensure optimum incorporation into the soil. Other methods of seeding are not as effective because the seed is spread on top of the thatch layer, on the other hand, with slice seeding it is embedded and worked into the soil. We have had a great year restoring decks! The feedback / follow up on our crew has been very positive, ranging from "I can't believe how hard your men work" to "I love my new deck!" or "I'm going to show all my friends and neighbors our before and after pictures!"
We are now stocking the best stain in the business, TWP. Cedar is the most popular color so we leave those 5 gallon pails close to the shop door. We also now provide real color samples. It's just very hard to pick a color from pictures. I have a sample board with all the color choices hand painted on it, so no surprises on your new deck color.
For vertical wood (fences, gazebos, etc.) we use and recommend the #1 contractor vertical stain, Ready Seal. Ready Seal has been the industry leader for many years.
TWP and Ready seal are both high quality, long lasting stains. And of course they are not inexpensive. We will loose some jobs over price but we have NO interest in using weak products. If you decide to tackle your deck job, research your stains. Many of the stains that Lowes & Home Depot carry are low quality. Do a Google search on Behr products for a good example.
Please make sure you know what product is going down on your deck, before you make a decision on your next contractor.
